In response to the request from former political prisoner and documentary film maker Mohamad Nouri for a letter writing campaign to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, Rohollah Zam has written several letters to Khamenei.

In his last letter to Khamenei, former political prisoner Rohollah Zam talks about the illegal and inhuman methods that are used by interrogators for obtaining forced false confessions from prisoners. He talks about his time in prison and the tortures he received and that others were subjected to.

He starts his letter to Ayatollah Khamenei by saying that he could have been like many of the people that are around Khamenei that flatter and bow to him, so he, also could have benefited from the shadow of Khamenei’s Monarchism that has been cast over Iran.

He says, however, since he could not resort to such actions and could only speak the truth, he had to flee the country to stay safe from the hands of Khamenei’s forces.

He goes on telling Khamenei about how the regime-supported media in the past two years have continued to say the Green Movement is dead, but as soon as a protest is called by the Greens, the regime shows its fear of the Greens by making the streets a military zone and occupying the streets with the regime’s mighty security forces, armed to the teeth.

Zam continues in his letter with criticizing Khamenei’s continued failed policies and talks about his continued suppression of the people and continued violating of the Constitution.

Further he talks about the torture that goes on in Khamenei’s prisons, and tells him that he intends to tell about the torture methods used in Evin’s IRGC ward to obtain false confessions from prisoners.

He continues, “I, among many other people were arrested after your Friday Prayer speech in 2009 and were taken to IRGC’s Ward 2-A in Evin prison.

I was arrested on Piroozi street in Tehran after I showed up for a scheduled meeting time that was set via a phone call. The arrest included the agents pulling their guns on me. This method of arrest was also used on Behzad Nabavi and many others.

During my transport to Evin, even though I was handcuffed and blindfolded, I was beaten and insulted with profanities.

For months I was kept in a solitary confinement where I could only see the damp floor of the basement from under my blindfold.

I was handcuffed to a metal post on the floor in a bent position for hours, the interrogators trying to force me give them a false confession against Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani, Gholamhossein Karbaschi(Reformist), Sayed Mohamad Khatami(former president) and Mehdi Karoubi(Opposition leader).

I spent many days during summer of 2009 in your IRGC’s 1.5 meter solitary cell while I was fasting. At night time I could hear other prisoners’ prayers thru the air conditioning vents.

My chief interrogator was a man with an Esfahani accent. He had five other interrogators working under him that were responsible for interrogations of the political prisoners. I will reveal his name later on.

This person was responsible for obtaining many of the false confessions that were given by prisoners who were tried in the “Show Trials” of 2009.

I was put under a lot of pressure by him to force me to give a false confession against two prominent politicians.

Being interrogated in those rooms involved a lot of anxiety and stress so the time went by very slowly.
Many days I was interrogated from 12 noon to 12 midnight but it seemed much longer.

Each interrogator was responsible for performing a specific task. One used to beat me very hard. While I was seated on a chair facing the wall and blindfolded. He would beat and kick me from behind so hard that at times I would be thrown off the chair and hit the wall.

Sitting in that position, if I didn’t say what they wanted to hear, they would kick me from behind, throw me to the floor and continue beating and kicking me. This would be repeated many times a day.

The other interrogator was a thin man with a dark complection. His job was to insult me with profanities and verbal abuse.

Another interrogator was responsible for giving me the interrogation sheets to complete and if I didn’t write what they wanted, the other two interrogators would do their job.

One other interrogators, a heavy built man, was responsible for playing with my emotions. He would continuously tell me how much my young daughter missed me. He told me that they heard her say on a wire tap that she cries all the time and says how much she misses her father.

He would tell me, “Just tell us what you must so you can put an end to this and be able to go back to your daughter.”

At the time of my arrest my daughter was only seven and I was her primary care taker in the absence of her mother.

The other interrogator was the one I mentioned earlier in my letter. The same guy who continued to swear upon the purity of Hazart Zahra (Prophet Mohamad’s daughter). The same guy who many times witnessed me being beaten up hard while I was observing fasting.

The same guy who many times witnessed the thin dark complected interrogator throw a Quran at me at his order.

That head interrogator interrogated and insulted many of the political prisoners. The same guy that many political prisoners remember but don’t know his name. Well I have seen him.

On the last day of my detention, they took me to his office and sat me on a chair and removed my blindfold.

I saw his bald head, the imprint of the praying stone on his forehead and his blue eyes. He was no other person than the brother of your Intelligence Minister “Haydar Moslehi”.

He asked me to become friends with Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani as soon as I am released and not to leave his side until such day that he is arrested. In other words he wanted me to spy on Mehdi Hashemi for him.

Many times over they asked me to give a false confession against Mehdi Hashemi. The same false confession that was given by Hamzeh Karami during the show trials.

Also, after I was released, they summoned me three times to Evin and asked me to give a false confession that I had personally seen Gholamhosein Karbaschi (former political prisoner, former Tehran mayor and an ally of former president Khatami) carrying firearms a number of times in various locations.

They intended to use this false confession as evidence to arrest Mr. Karbaschi.

Despite the fact that I was threatened with re-arrest if I refused to give them this false confession, my conscience would not allow me to make such a false accusation and I refused to do so.”

Zam continues in his letter with, “Mr. Khamenei, during my repeated interrogation sessions, many times I heard the cries and moans and groans of other prisoners that were being beaten and attacked.

Once I heard from the room next to my interrogation room that a person was being beaten by five people trying to make him confess to possession of firearms.”

Zam goes on telling khamenei that most of the false confessions were to show that people close to Hashemi Rafsanjai, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi were armed and were planning an armed coup against Khamenei.

The main agenda for these confessions was for people to confess to affiliation with the Mojahedin and the Monarchists and ultimately Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi. Unfortunately some people fell for this agenda.

I know a person who’s name I will not reveal, for he is still imprisoned, who weighed about 145 kilos before being incarcerated.

After I was released, one day I had gone to the Revolutionary Court to follow up on my case, and there I saw the same man, looking very thin and weak.

I asked him, how he was doing and why he had lost so much weight. I asked, what have they done to you?

He said, ” Rohollah if they gave you electric shock to your rectum every day, there wouldn’t have been anything but bones left of you.”

This man was a prominent and trusted person during Shahid Rejaei and Mir Hossein Mousavi’s era. Everyone knew that man, a religious person, considered Khamenei as his spiritual leader. He would get highly offended if anyone said anything negative about Khamenei.

This same man was tortured in your IRGC’s corrupt prison. He lost 80 kilos by being shocked in his rectum daily.

Shame on me, shame on you, shame on us, shame on us all.”

Zam concludes his letter to Khamenei by telling him that he (Khamenei) continues to rule over a corrupt, blood thirsty and criminal government and regime.

He says that he has more to reveal about the crimes committed by Saeed Mortazabi (the then Tehran District Attorney), about the cases of Hengameh Shahidi, Mostafa Tajerzadeh and more, which he will do at a later time.

Zam ends his letter by quoting from Nahjul Balagheh by Imam Ali:

I am very anxious to reach the realm of God, and I earnestly hope and pray for His blessing and favors. But it grieves me to see that this nation is being ruled by unwise and vicious rulers. They grasp the wealth of the nation and drive its people into slavery. They go into a war with righteousness and gather the corrupt people around them. ~Nahjul Balagheh, letter No. 62

Update: Dr. Khazali was taken to the clinic in Evin prison last night with heart problems, after a an EKG was taken, doctors determined he should be admitted to a hospital. He was sent to Taleghani hospital and was admitted to the CCU. Despite his grave condition, Dr. Khazali has refused to end his hunger strike.

Outspoken regime critic, author and blogger, Dr. Mehdi Khazali on the 40th day of his hunger strike, has written a letter to his wife.

After 40 days on hunger strike, Dr. Khazali is weak and has lost a lot of weight. Despite the fact that he has been taken to the clinic in Evin number of times, he refuses heed the request of his cellmates, his family and political activists to break his hunger strike.

Dr. Khazali has been sentenced to fourteen years in prison, to be served in Borazjan prison, plus ninety lashes. As part of his sentence. he has been sentenced to ten years exiled in Borazjan, Boushehr province in south Iran, after the completion of his prison term.

Following is the letter that Dr. Khazali wrote to his wife on the 40th day of hunger strike, as provided to Kamaleh by anonymous friends of the Green Movement from Evin prison.

In the name of God the Merciful:

My dear wife, greetings, with utmost love. I know you have faith in our love; I know how eager you are to hear my voice. I know that you know that I hear murmurs of your angelic voice of affection within me that give me energy.

But your voice seems tired. I found you tired and troubled; you were moaning in my mourning.

It is very difficult to watch the mourning of one’s wife and children, from a self chosen slow death.

Right now that I am writing this letter to you, I have immersed myself in the solitude of my bed. I have cried so much for your hardships that there is not a dry spot on my pillow and a handkerchief is not big enough for wiping away these tears.

It is a good feeling. I call on my bunk bed neighbor below and ask for a piece of paper so I can write down these feelings.

He offers me all the paper he has and says, “write down what your heart desires”. But tears won’t allow me, you can see the footprint of my tears on the paper.

It’s difficult, so difficult, to see your wife and children cry and mourn for your self-chosen slow death, and you witness them mourning you.

It’s difficult to control yourself. You cannot see their sorrow and agony and not cry and cry yourself. But you have to be careful for this love and tears not to become a hindrance and shackles.

But no, these tears are the kind of tears shed for Saydolshohada (Imam Hossein) and the tears for the sufferings of Zaynab Kobra (Imam Ali’s third daughter). It cleanses the heart and makes one more determined.

These kind of tears will not make us lose our footing and tremble on our path. It is the eruption of pure love for one’s wife and children, and the weeping over the hardships and the sufferings they endure.

May all of them be sacrificed for Zainab, peace be upon her, as they are not above the prophet’s family.

My dears, my tears and your tears must be like the weeping for Hossein, son of Ali, peace be upon him, and should cause more striving, movement and effort toward our goal. They must become the two wings with which we can fly to reach the true beloved.

We must become like a roaring flood that uproots tyranny and oppression. So come and let us cry and cry together; these tears will uproot tyranny.

Mehdi Khazali

Outspoken regime critic, author and blogger, Dr. Mehdi Khazali, incarcerated in Evin prison, has been on a hunger strike since his violent arrest on January 9, 2012. During this violent arrest Dr. Khazali suffered a broken arm and broken teeth.

Dr. Khazali, an Ophthalmologist, is the son of hard line cleric Ayatolla Khazali, a staunch supporter of Ayatollah Khamenei. Ayatollah Khazali has publicly denounced and distanced himself from his son’s positions.

Dr. Khazali has been arrested a number of times since the 2009 rigged presidential election. His lastest arrest was last July, a violent arrest during which Dr. Khazali suffered injuries.

On the day he was arrested and arraigned, Dr. Khazali vowed to remain on hunger strike until martyrdom, he said, ” “I will go on a hunger strike and will stay on it until martyrdom, I will not touch their food.”

During these past 39 days a number of political activists, religious figures and former president Khatami have urged him to end his hunger strike, to no avail.

Following is a translation of Dr. Khazali’s response letter to Hojatolislam Ahmad Montazeri (son of the late Ayatollah Montazeri) urging Dr. Khazali to end his hunger strike as published on his supporters’ site Baran:

In the name of God the Merciful
Honorable brother Hojatolislam Moslemin Ahmad Montazeri:

I have received your message. The atrocity inflicted upon me is but one hundredth of the atrocities that are inflicted on my cellmates.

Among us are people who were political prisoners in the 80′s, but their life was spared during the mass executions of 1988.

The stories they tell of the prison conditions during those times makes my hair stand on end. He says, “They put me in a solitary confinement cell with three tier bunk beds. In each cell there were 30 people, nine people would squeeze in each level of the bunk bed, and the rest of the people would sleep on the tight space on the floor. We could not straighten our knees when going to the bathroom (they called this the solitary cell).”

And what about the frightful stories of Haj Davoud Ahangar’s (then the prison warden), cages, sacks & other confinements.

Now I understand what would have happened to us if it wasn’t for your father’s outcries. Here, all prisoners pray for your father and have the utmost respect for him.

Let my insignificant life cause justice to prevail in our Courts, and stop the influence of anti-revolution and the seditious elements in the Intelligence Ministry and Sepah. Perhaps then, in the future, people would say “God bless his soul” for me also.

Perhaps my martyrdom will cause an end to the rampant injustice in the Revolutionary Courts, the show trials in it’s branches, and the fictitious Appeals Courts, and maybe then these scandalous injustices will be removed from our Justice System.

What I have personally witnessed is that, in the Revolutionary Courts, the minimum rights of the accused are not even allowed. Many are denied a defense attorney; most are not allowed a consultation with their lawyer prior to trial. No one is allowed to review and read their case file to prepare themselves for a defense.

Verdicts are given (pardon me, dictated) by the Intelligence Ministry, without any evidence of guilt or confession, solely based on the Intelligence Ministry’s reports.

They do not provide the defendants with an indictment or a judgement. Before they give you the court’s verdict, they make you sign an affidavit saying that you were officially provided with court’s verdict. They won’t even allow you to see court’s issued judgement.

Three of my cellmates were tried by Judge Pirabbasi in a two minute trial and, without any evidence of guilt or a confession, they were found guilty as charged, and were sentenced to total of seventeen years. They have been on a hunger strike since February 3.

Another person here has been sentenced to death without any evidence of guilt or confession, and for only receiving a short email from an unknown sender.

Yesterday, a person who had been sentenced to death twice by Judge Salavati, was ordered released by the Appellate Court, and was released and returned to his family.

The send off we had for him was one the happiest and memorable events we had here. This case only shows the incompetence of the original Judge.

Last week they exiled a young man to another prison only because he refused to deny the ideology in statements that he had signed with other prisoners.

They have imprisoned three people solely for being Christians, while they had no political activities. Also, a number of other people are incarcerated here solely for their religious beliefs. Beliefs that have nothing to do with politics or the government. They have been sentenced to long prison terms. We all have been deprived of any basic citizen’s rights.

Many are incarcerated here only as a payback for disagreements with high ranking officials. They are under physical and mental torture pressure to give false confessions of having connection with foreign intelligence agencies.

They are being pressured to confess to embezzlement from government agencies, while no money has been embezzled from those agencies.

During torture sessions no religious or moral standards are observed. Even when prisoners refer to religious figures and swore upon them as to their innocence, they ridicule them and say “Who are these people”.

Ultimately, the presiding judges of the unjust Revolutionary Courts convict and sentence people to long prison terms, and destroy their lives, in trials that only last few minutes, while people are deprived of even a defense attorney.

These are examples of the pain and sufferings inflicted upon us. There is much more painful things to speak about, but there is not enough room in this short letter for me to explain.

Now, isn’t this enough justification for me to die? Didn’t they remove the thorn from the foot of the Jewish woman (referring to a story about Imam Ali).

Now I understand the outcries of your late father. May God bless his soul and may God remove this injustice from it’s root.

If God willing,
God alone is sufficient for us, and he is our esteemed friend and he is the best friend and ally that we have.

February 13, 2011

Ahead of the next Parliamentary election, a number of political prisoners were summoned to the Magistrate Office in Evin and to section 209 (under the control of the Intelligence Ministry) and were once again interrogated.

Kalameh reports, Alireza Rejaei a member of Religious-National Council, Amir Khosro Dalirsani member of the Combatant Moslem Movement and Mohamad Reza Motamednia, Mousavi’s special representative during his post as a Prime Minister, were summoned to Shahid Moghadasi Magistrate Office in Evin and were questioned and interrogated regarding various statements they had released on boycotting the upcoming elections and protesting the Green leaders’ illegal detention.

These new summons have been at the request of the Intelligence Ministry’s memos to Evin Magistrate’s office requesting that prisoners who have issued statements be confronted and dealt with.

Trumping up of new charges has become the new method of confronting the protesting prisoners who either have already served half of their sentences or are close to the end of their prison term.

Last week, Abolfazl Abedini and Shahin Zainali were summoned to section 209 and were interrogated about the statement they released condemning war on Iran, and supporting the people of Bahrain.

Shahin Zainali was threatened with exile and few days later he was transferred from Evin to Rejaei Shahr prison (with much worse conditions than Evin).

Blogger Housein Ronaghani Maleki, who is in poor health, was also summoned and interrogated about the joint letter to Sayed Mohamad Khatami about imprisoned attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh and his father’s interviews with the press.

Last week members of the National Front, Dr. Ali Rashidi and Hamid Reza Khadem were also summoned to section 209 for questioning.

Journalist Bahman Ahmadi Amoei was also summoned and interrogated last week regarding a statement that has become known as “The 39 prisoner’s statement” asking for the release of Green Movement leaders Mousavi, Karoubi and Rahnavard.

Human rights activists, Soma Nourani, Aref Darvish and Mehdi Khodaei were also summoned and interrogated about a statement they signed supporting Nasrin Sotoudeh and also about a statement requesting Khatami to answer some questions.

Abolfazl Ghadyani a member of the Central Council of Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization was summoned, days before his release at the end of his prison term was scheduled, to face new charges of “propaganda against the regime” by writing a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei. This prevented the release of this elderly and in poor health condition political prisoner.

Also, previously Mohsen Mirdamadi the Chair of Participation Front and Fayzollah Arabsorkhi, member of the Central Council of Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization, were summoned by officials to Evin Ward 2-A (Sepah) and were pressured and interrogated about “The 39 prisoner’s statement”.

There are a number of political prisoners in Evin and Rejaei Shahr prisons in poor and in critical health condition. For many, their repeated medical furlough has been denied.

The majority of these political prisoners entered the prison system healthy, but most now suffer various ailments caused by torture, poor prison diet and the unsanitary prison environment.

Following are just a few of these cases reported in the last few days:

Mohamad Reza Motamednia:

Medical furlough and treatment continues to be denied for Iran-Iraq war veteran Mohamad Reza Motamednia incarcerated in Evin Ward 350. He suffers from gum disease and numbness and paralysis in his right hand.

The medical examiner and Evin physicians have recommended treatment outside of Evin for this Mousavi presidential campaign 88 activist, however, the prosecution office continues to deny him medical furlough.

Motamednia was arrested during the post election unrest. He was released on bail after being incarcerated in solitary confinement for two months.

He was tried and convicted of propaganda against the regime by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court presided by Judge Pirabbasi.Motamednia. He was summoned to prison to serve his sentence on August 12, 2011.

This Mousavi campaign activist suffers from gum disease and spinal injuries due to pressure and tortures he received while incarcerated in Evin Ward 2-A (Sepah) solitary confinement.

Journalist Kayvan Samimi:

Despite recommendations by prison physicians for needed treatment outside of prison, Rejaei Shahr officials continue to deny transfer of Kayvan Samini to a hospital outside of prison.

Kayvan Samini, serving a six years sentence, has been incarcerated for over two years. Initially he was imprisoned in Evin before being transferred to Rejaei Shahr prison December of 2010.

Kayvan Samimi went on a hunger strike number of times during his incarceration, protesting various issues.

He suffers from liver condition and various other ailments.

Haniyeh Sane Farshi:
Haniyeh Sane Farshi serving her prison term in the women’s ward in Evin prison is in poor health. She is suffering from kidney problem and has bloody urine.

Haniyeh was tried, convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison in Branch 28 of the Revolutionary court, presided by Judge Moghayeseh on charges of blasphemy, insulting the Supreme Leader, propaganda against the regime and anti-national security acts.

Haniyeh was transferred to a hospital outside of prison for treatment sometime ago but after returning to prison her condition persisted and she now is in poor health.

Despite the fact that the Prosecution office has approved medical furlough for Haniyeh but court has not set bail as of yet, thus preventing her release on furlough.

During her interrogation sessions, Haniyeh was put under heavy physical and psychological pressure. She was incarcerated in solitary confinement for months.

In response to a letter issued by Mohamad Nourizad and the widows of Iran-Iraq war heroic martyrs, Bakeri and Hemat, urging Dr. Mehdi Khazali to end his hunger strike, Dr. khazali has sent out a letter from Evin prison.

Author, critic and blogger, Dr. Mehdi Khazali is incarcerated in Evin prison and has been on a hunger strike for one month.

On day 25 of his hunger strike, Dr. Khazali was taken to the medical clinic in Evin suffering stomach bleeding due to complications from the hunger strike.

It has been reported that Dr. Khazali is in poor health and has already lost about 35 lbs, but has vowed to remain on his hunger strike.

Following is the text of Dr. Khazali’s letter:

In the name of God of the martyrs:

My dear brother Mohamad Nourizad and honorable widows of fellow war hero martyrs Hemat and Bakeri:

I received your kind message, and here’s my gratitude for your kindness. However, this Humble soul has stayed behind the caravan of love, but, perhaps a door to heaven may have opened to allow me to pay my dues.

Before I die mourning for the lost values of the Revolution, please allow me to sacrifice my life, to restore the pure values of the Islamic Revolution, so I may make a place for myself among the martyrs.

Today and everyday, more and more we witness the slaughtering of the values of the Islamic Revolution. More than ever, this plant needs giving and self-sacrifice.

Dear friends, instead of asking me to break my hunger strike, ask them to put an end to these illegal imprisonments.

I will stand until martyrdom, and if God excepts my act and allows me to join the martyrs, I will say hello to Martyrs Hemat and Bakeri on your behalf.

Peace and mercy of God upon you

Mehdi Khazali

Abolfazal Tabarzadi has been in a psychiatric hospital for ten days.

According to the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Tabarzadi suffers from severe paranoia and depression and prison officials could no longer control him and were forced to transfer him to hospital.

Abolfazl Tabarzadi, 24 years old, is a civil engineering student and is the nephew of imprisoned political activist Heshmatollah Tabarzadi*. He was arrested on December 19, 2010 at his father’s home.

This student activist was sentenced to 15 months in prison on charges of “acting against national security” and “contact with foreign media”. His sentence was later reduced to 9 months in prison by the Appeals Court.

Tabarzadi began serving his sentence in Karoon Prison in Ahvaz on October 18, 2011.

A source close to the family told ICHRI that, “It seems Abolfazl is suffering from severe paranoia. He constantly thinks he should be responding to interrogators, thinks the agents are after him and is very worried for his family.

In prison, he wakes up screaming in the middle of the night and won’t stop until prison authorities contact his family to go to prison. He was moved to a hospital on authorization from the Prosecutor’s office.”

Regarding what led to the current mental status of this student, the source said, “When a student who has never thought about prison or such things is sent to a place like Karoon prison in Ahvaz which is even worse than the medieval prisons, well, he would go crazy.

In this prison, there is no separation of inmates according to the type of crime. Murderers, thieves and addicts and all kind of criminals sleep and live next to each other.

Abolfazl has a very sensitive soul and apparently could not take it anymore. He was under heavy pressure and interrogations last year. They took him to court in handcuffs and shackled, without a lawyer, and then they sent him to prison. Well, what else is needed to happen to drive someone crazy?”

On the current status of Abolfazl Tabarzadi, this source close to the family said, “According to the doctors orders he must remain hospitalized for a month and then continue treatment in a calm environment for six months. But unfortunately, he is currently under very tight security in the hospital.”

*Foot note: Abolfazl Tabarzadi’s uncle is Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, a political activist and the Secretary General of the Iran Democratic Front. He was arrested on December 28, 2009 and sent to Evin prison Ward 209 in solitary confinement. He later was transferred to Rejaei Shahr prison.

Heshmatollah Tabarzadi was tried and sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of collusion and conspiracy with the intent to act against the national security.

Tabarzadi has participated in several hunger strikes along with other political prisoners protesting various issues.

Heshmatollah Tabarzadi is in poor health and suffers from a heart condition which he did not have prior to being imprisoned. His repeated request for a medical furlough has been denied by the prosecution office.

On Thursday, February 2nd, Dr. Mehdi Khazali was taken to the medical clinic in Evin prison due to stomach bleeding caused by his hunger strike.

Despite the fact that Dr. Khazali is in poor health and has lost about 35 lbs due to his prolonged hunger strike, he has vowed to remain on hunger strike.

During this past summer, Dr. Khazali was also on a hunger strike in prison before being released on bail.

Kalameh reported on Wednesday that, on his 24th day of hunger strike, Dr. Khazali was transferred from Evin Ward 209 to Ward 350, looking frail and very thin.

Since the fraudulent 2009 presidential election, Dr. Khazali has been arrested several times . Last summer, he suffered a neck injury during a violet arrest. He remained in prison for one month on a hunger strike before being released on bail.

Recently, in a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, Dr. Khazali, criticizing the current events in the country, said, “You have the choice to either accept my suggestion (writing weekly letters) or to send me to solitary confinement for the fifth time.”
