Reliable sources have told ICHRI on May 23 and 24 there were 16 more secret hangings in Mashhad Vakilabad prison but as with the previous secret hanging there, it was not reported by Iranian Judiciary officials.
These sources have told ICHRI that on May 23, 2011 there were 12 secret hanging in Vakilabad prison, all were charged on drug related charges.
Four more people were hanged on May 24, 2011. Three of the victims were sisters with drug related charges and one was hanged on rape charges.
ICHRI has also received more information about the previously reported secret hangings in Mashahd. On April 6, 2011, ten people were hanged secretly and on April 13, 2011 twelve people were hanged secretly.
Local sources also report 10 people were hanged in secret on May 16, 2011.
All of these people were hanged in secret without any notice to their families or their defense attorneys.
