7 female political prisoners write to Judiciary Chief Larijani: Investigate Haleh Sahabi’s death

Seven female political prisoners have written a letter to Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani asking him to form a fact finding committee to investigate Haleh Sahabi’s death.

Haleh Sahabi died as a result of being attacked by regime thugs at her father’s funeral while she was out on furlough.

The seven female political prisoners say what prompted them to write this letter is the sudden death of their fellow inmate who was also one of the 2009 presidential election result protesters.

In their letter they say; they have been informed Haleh’s death was not due to heart condition or any blocked arteries nor was it due to stress from her father’s funeral, but her death was due to attack and assault by the agents that were present at her father’s funeral.

They remind Larijani that to this date no one has been held accountable in many cases like this and the tragedy of Kahrizak case, cases that continue to occur in an alarming rate.

They continue telling Larijani that Haleh’s death brought much grief to many in the nation and particularly to her fellow inmates.

Further they ask Larijani for a Fact Finding Committee to be formed to investigate the circumstances that caused Hale’s death and to indict and try the culprits in an open trial all those responsible for this senseless death.

They suggest this Committee should be formed with independent men and women and members of Sahabi family to bring into light the facts of this tragic event.

The letter to Larijani was signed by political prisoners Laila Tavassoli, Laleh Hasanpour, Fatemeh Darvish, Nasrin Sotoudeh, Mahdiyeh Golrou, Atefeh Navabi and Bahareh Hedayat.
